From New Mexico Hwy 244, near Cloudcroft, take Forest Road 162 north. In dry weather, FR 162 can be driven with a standard car. After approx 1 mile, veer right onto FR 162A. The summit, is at the end of FR 162A. At the summit, there is a fire tower and two large cellular/LMR/public safety radio towers. The fire tower and pair of radio towers are about 400 yds apart from each other. There are many tall trees with good shade. The trees also provide good support for wire dipoles. Despite the radio towers, QRM on HF is non existant.
