Quick links: Back to Summit Details

Possibly one of SOTA's most underrated Summits...

This summit has come in for a lot of unfair criticism over the years. Don't let this put you off though. Easy 15 minute walk to the trig point with 360 degree uninterupted views. There's a nice fence right next to the trig point, to bungee antennas. The radio masts can give problems to the VHF activator, however, using a rig with decent filtering, such as the FT-857, you'll have very little trouble.

I've activated this one about 15 times and never left disappointed. This summit has produced big quantities of DX for me. I once qualified this summit with the first nine chasers all VK and on another activation, worked 21 VK chasers, a couple of them summit to summit. Plenty of Stateside contacts worked from this one too.

The best place to park, drive to the end of Beacon Road. For your satnav use postcode WN5 7HE and just follow the obvious track to the summit...

Have fun.
